Privacy notice

The short version

The only personal data we collect is what you type into the room listing form. We use it to contact you about your room and nothing else. We do not sell it, and there is no advertising or third-party tracking on this site.

What we collect

If you submit the form on List your room, we collect the details you provide: your name, email address, optional phone number, the postcode and area of the property, the room type, rent, availability date, and any notes you add.

We do not require an account and we do not collect payment details anywhere on this site.

Why, and on what legal basis

We use your details solely to respond to your enquiry and to arrange a listing if you want one. The lawful basis is legitimate interests — you contacted us about listing a room, and replying to you is the obvious and expected use of that information.

We will not add you to a marketing list off the back of a listing enquiry without asking you separately and clearly.

Who processes it

This site is hosted on Netlify, and form submissions are handled by Netlify Forms. That means Netlify processes your submission on our behalf and stores it on their infrastructure. We do not pass your details to anyone else.

We never publish your full address or your contact details on the site. A listing shows the area, not the house.

Cookies and analytics

This site sets no advertising or tracking cookies, and runs no third-party analytics. If that changes we will update this notice and add a cookie banner before doing so, not after.

How long we keep it

We keep listing enquiries for as long as the listing is active, and for up to twelve months after it ends or after our last contact with you, whichever is later. After that we delete them.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to our using it. Ask and we will do it — there is no process to navigate.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
